Hand-woven using 100% eco-friendly, French merino wool, we trace the wool’s production process from farm to yarn, securing a top-quality raw material that, with just the right amount of washing, offers maximum warmth and naturally dirt repellent.
Soft and light, the look and texture of these throws improve over time. Although designed for autumn / spring temperatures, they're also warm and cosy in winter. Moreover, they feature two special finishes: a fringed finish and one with intertwined threads.
Squares & Dark Squares blankets are derived from Zuzunaga basics; the square and colour, as well as from an attempt to understand the unique process of weaving by hand. In this craft time and space become intertwined to produce exceptional fabrics in the hands of expert craftspeople.
In the design of these blankets, squares overlap, giving rise to dozens of different colours. What is the secret behind this result? Understanding the complex relationship of colour theory and accepting chance as part of the process; knowing that if you change one thread, the entire blanket is transformed. In Squares, the result is a colourful, spring-like blanket. Dark Squares is the winter option; complementary and opposing designs which evoke light and shadow.
Uncharacteristically, Dark Squares features black, something new for Zuzunaga. Black makes it easier to unite and interrelate the various colours.
